The point noted "start" is the Middle Mountain ridge trail that is in the regular XC course. This is the point where the 2 courses split, with the XXC staying up on the sweet, sweet ridge for 3 more miles of bliss. It drops sharply and switchbackedly to the dirt road. Take a left on the dirt road, go one-quarter mile up a slight rise. Take a right on the Brushy Hollow/Salt Pond Ridge "lasso" loop. This looks short, but it will likely take an hour or more to complete the 6 miles or so. Then back to the dirt road, this time taking a right. Then the gravel road climbs for about 4 miles before reaching the backside trail (name unsure) where the word "end" appears. This is short and steep, reaching the ridge in less than a mile. From there, you re-join the regular XC course to the finish! Approximately 35 miles with truckloads of insane climbing and sweet backwoods trail.
