Why USAC-MTB?

o       Changes for the better. Most everything that folks didn’t care for about NORBA has been replaced with policies and practices that make sense.

o       No entry fee increase for most racers. Beginner and sports are not required to buy a license. They pay the usual entry fee (no increase). Licenses are required to accumulate state/national/world points, so if you’re not a full series racer, and don’t intend to race only for the thrill and adventure, it makes sense to NOT buy any license at all.

o       Licensed riders get an entry registration discount of $5. The annual USAC-MTB license is $60. Race all 3 Virginia Series races and that’s a $15 rebate right there. Hey, every little bit helps.

o       Licenses may be bought last minute at www.usacycling.org.

o       Races listed everywhere USAC lists races. More exposure to different racers is good.

o       Official sanctioning and state championship endorsement is good.

o         Quick web license purchase and profile management for licensed racers. Easily manage your information—results, points, etc—at My USA Cycling.

XXC bonus:

Marathon is a USAC tribute to The Virginia Series' XXC. It's cool that we can get you USAC-MTB points in Marathon where very few others can.

Here's how it goes:  We run one single Marathon class that includes everybody, licensed, unlicensed, nude, et.al. If you want Marathon points, you can buy a license. You can decide later, apparently, since you'd have to buy a license to enter a national anyway. So there. Have cake AND ice cream.

Sticky Points:

Q: I’m an expert rider with no interest whatsoever in forking my hard-earned sawbucks over to USAC-MTB for any stinking license. Don’t you care about me?

A: Of course we care about you, and want and appreciate, your business. We are keeping the XXC an open class so no licenses will be needed. We invite you to explore the amazing adventure of these long rides unlike any other, any where.

Q: What if I’m a sport or beginner license holder racing XXC? Will my points count?

A: Yes. You’ll get the points awarded for your placing.
